Just for the Math of It!!

Fractions!!

Many of us could use a little practice when it comes to working with fractions.

Let's review a basic algorithm for adding and subtracting proper fractions.
     A)    Make sure that all the fractions have the same (or
                      common) denominator.
     B)    Keep the common denominator.
     C)    Add the numerators together.

Example:      2/4 + 1/4 =  ?
     A)    These two fractions have a common denominator.
     B)     Keep the denominator of 4.
     C)     Add the numerators together ---> 2 + 1 = 3

 Answer:         2/4 + 1/4 = 3/4

Now go practice!  One good place to work on your skills is at Khan Academy!  It doesn't cost anything and you can also get hints if you are stuck.
